Gilbert was incorporated on July 6, 1920. In Gilbert’s early days, it was a prime farming community that was fueled by the construction of the Roosevelt Dam and the Eastern and Consolidated Canals in 1911. It was also known as the “Hay Capital of the World” until the late 1920s.
This area has a wide selection of schools. Some of which include: Gilbert Classical Academy, Mesquite HIgh School, HIghland HIgh School, Gilbert High School, and Greenfield Junior High School.
Gilbert has a wide variety of things to do. Just a few are Hale Centre Theatre, Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch, and the Gilbert Historical Museum.
